The United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, and other European countries are experiencing a monkeypox outbreak.

There have been 68 suspected cases so far, eight in England and 20 in Portugal.

There have also been cases documented in Canada and the United States.

However, health experts have no idea where the monkeypox virus was spread.

There's also the danger that the virus is spreading unnoticed throughout the population, maybe via a new transmission channel.

"This [outbreak] is exceptional and unusual," says epidemiologist Susan Hopkins, the UK Health Security Agency's principal medical adviser (UKHSA)

Fever, bodily pains, swollen lymph nodes, and eventually "pox" are all symptoms of monkeypox.
